Over eight hundred guests attended the 21st Annual Right to Life banquet on Monday, September 25 at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center at Grace College in Winona Lake. Pat Miller, as always, was an entertaining emcee. Keynote for the evening was Ryan Bomberger. Ryan, whose biological mother was raped and courageously gave him life, is one of ten children adopted and loved in a multi-racial family of fifteen. Ryan along with his wife, Bethany, founded The Radiance Foundation to research and creatively present social issues through multi-media. He has called out Planned Parenthood for its inaccurate information and presented evidence through creative media methods for abortion’s tragic impact on the Black community.
Shelbi Gillette, past interim director for Heartline Pregnancy Center was this year’s recipient of the Mary Louise Lowe Pro-Life Award. Shelbi was given the award for going above and beyond in her responsibilities at Heartline. The award was given to Shelbi by Right to Life Board President, Ben Woodcox; Heartline Board President, Alyssa Lowe; and co-founding member of Right to Life, Mary Louise Lowe.
Executive Director, Dave Koontz, shared that abortions on women from the 5-core north central Indiana counties are down over 40% from 2014 to 2016 (based on Indiana Department of Health reporting). Also reported was the fact that the building that once was the home of Planned Parenthood’s Warsaw office is now owned by Right to Life of North Central Indiana.
This banquet is the result of great teamwork each year with Grace College staff, athletic teams and students helping in many ways, Lakeland Christian Academy once again providing beautiful center pieces, Wildman Business Group providing enough linens for 125 tables and cloth napkins for 800 guests, Our Father’s House catering, many supporters from the community helping with setup and tear down as well as 80 plus table hosts who invited guests this year. Around 200 volunteers and table hosts made the 21st annual Legacy of Life Banquet a reality!
Thanks to a record number of banquet sponsor this year! Sponsors and advertisers help keep the cost of tickets to a reasonable $25.00 per person.
Thanks to all who donated at the banquet to give $102,000 in donations and pledges which will help Right to Life’s efforts to promote the pro-life message throughout the year.
